Serious Game Design and Research Certificate

Graduate students in our Human-Computer Interaction concentration have the opportunity to earn a graduate Certificate in ‘Serious Game Design and Research’ while working toward their MA degree. Also, this 3-course Graduate Certificate is available online to any individual – either current student in other programs or non-student – who has completed a B.A. or B.Sc. degree and is not enrolled in the M.A. Media and Information degree program. It is possible to earn this entirely online and there is no residency requirement.

The following courses can be completed either on campus or online:
MI831 Theories of Games and Interaction for Design
MI841 Understanding Users
MI830 Foundations of Serious Games

Upon successfully completing any of these courses, students earn an official Michigan State University Badge, which can be featured on their social media profiles and/or online portfolios. Students also earn a composite badge when they complete all three courses and earn the Certificate.
