msu-in-autumnA limited number of Graduate Assistantships are available through the Department of Media and Information. Students admitted and enrolled in the department’s MA program may express interest in a Graduate Assistantship by sending an email to Dr. Ruth Shillair, Director of master’s studies (, with the Subject: “Interest in Graduate Assistantship”, attaching a current resume, and in the message indicating when will/did the graduate studies in Media and Information commence, and when they are scheduled to graduate. The specific number and types of Assistantships depends on the Department’s needs and varies from year to year. Assistantships are usually limited and go to students who have experience in research methods (e.g., data analysis, programming, qualitative research methods) or teaching.

In addition, graduate students may apply for a Graduate assistantship through ‘Residence Education and Housing Services’. Applicants must be admitted to a degree-granting graduate program for 2018-19 at MSU in order to receive an MSU Graduate Assistantship.
